Women to Republicans: ‘It’s my vagina, so hands off, Crazy!’

“Your agenda’s daunting, rich, white, Catholic-talking, women’s rights a-stalking,” they sing, “Whaddya think you’re doing, Crazy?”

Virginia was the first state whose mandatory trasnvaginal ultrasound legislation sparked nationwide attention, inspiring its own parody song. That law was eventually scrapped in favor of a mandatory external ultrasound requirement for any woman seeking an abortion in the state.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell (R), a strong supporter of the mandatory ultrasound law, helped craft the Republican National Convention’s “salute” to the law that will be made this week, despite the furor over Rep. Todd Akin’s comments about “legitimate rape” and abortion or the abortion and “forcible rape” he co-sponsored with presumptive VP nominee Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).
