PRESIDENTS AND RELIGION
Republican Presidential candidates, this go round are Mormon, and Catholic. That has never happened before. Seems letting candidates with these Religious histories float out against the first partially African American President speaks volumes.
It is still clear that when John McCain allowed the Right Wing to have its meat with the feisty Sarah Palin as Vice Presidential candidate, it was a calculation that allowed the American Population to see behind the vale of the Religious Right Conservatism and reject it. And it was payback after the way the Religious Right destroyed McCain and his reputation during the 2000 primary season.
Fundamentalism is great building some moral ethic to guide oneself, but it is poison when projected on a society where different cultural and religious beliefs are to flourish with one another without prejudice.
Looking for the soul of the Republican Party is what is left after a lack of taking responsibility in owning what they sowed for eight years. Playing the Religious Right Card is the Republican Party now.
Americans will pay through the nose for the damage the Iraq war has done. It destroyed in our name, land poisoned by depleted uranium throughout the Middle East and Afghanistan. It destroyed an American economy that had expanded opportunity to so many raising the quality of Americans lives and many boats. And it has destroyed at least for now the dreams of our youth saddled with financial and the moral burdens of their grandparents. And their grandparents were sold the Brooklyn Bridge.
